Dead Fuel Pump??? Which One?
Well I'm totally confused. I have an 88 F150 with the 4.9 and dual tanks. She died on me yesterday and I'm thinking its the fuel pump. Starts when I spray starter fluid in the intake and the pump has been whinning loud for a while, and it's always below empty.
I'm confused as wheiter or not I have one, two or three fuel pumps. On the frame rail there is a black box that both tanks tie into, than go to what I believe is a fuel pump than to the fuel filter and to the motor. Is the fuel pump the thing in the middle (there are connectors going to it) and is there another in each of the tanks. BTW: The truck doesn't start on either tank. Thanks alot in advance!!
Long live the straight six
When I flip the key on I actually dont hear anything, there is a lot of clicking though from the engine compartment so some relays are definatly working. It could be coincidence but everything was working fine till a friend covinced me to scan the CE light which had been flickering for, well years
. We scanned, got an error saying the system would not respond so we gave up and went to start the truck and nothing. I'm kindof thinking that was an unrelaed problem, maybe connectors were dirty and this is just a coincidence that this died?? I check connections, doesn';t appear as if we dislodged anthing. Thanks
