I was looking at cheaper methods of lifting my 01 F250. Would a 6 inch suspension lift, with a 2 inch body lift, be just as good as a 8 inch suspension lift? Would the cost of installation be the basic same? If I had a 6 inch suspension lift and a 2 inch bodylift, would I still have to lengthen the driveshaft? I am just a guy on a serious budget, just trying to figure the best way. Thanks.
First off, I believe only a 3" body lift is available.
Your better off going full suspension, it's better and is truly useful when off roading, when all is said and done you'll probably end up spending more on a 6" suspension and body lift than just a 8" suspension lift.
To buy and have a 8" really isn't all that much more than a 6", same labor time would apply.
I went with a body lift, only because we have a frame to road law, and any more suspension lift would of put me over.
I had a body lift on my old truck and it was cheap and easy to put on - but that was an '86 F350. Not that I can with a diesel, but I personally wouldn't get one again. I would imagine, like yeti said that buy the time you pay for the body lift and the install and the stuff that goes with it to make the body lift right, you'd be just as far ahead to go with a full 8" suspension. Not to mention that lift companys say not to mix suspension and body lifts, not that anyone listens to that but figured I'd throw it in.
