It could be a Windsor too. You will need to count the valvecover bolts. Also, the 351W has the thermostat housing on the front of the intake manifold. The 351M has it on the block just above the waterpump.
exhoust manifolds /header bolts work to windser were level side to side and 351m/400 are at an angle off the to of my head i dont remember witch way but at an angle ........ and in my 78 tbird 351m ....... in my 79 cougar 351w ...in the cougar i know they didnt have modifides just 302s and 351ws
Ok i figured out that its a 351W that came outa that 79 Tbird and was just making sure that it will go in my 77 150 and bolt up to the tranny and everything.thanx alot for any help.
What engine do you have now? 302- yes, 351M- no
If a 302, you will need to run the 351W accessory brackets out f the car since the block is taller and wider than the 302.
What ARE you going to do? I don't know what you're trying to do.
If you just WANT the Windsor, you'll have to change out the transmission/bellhousing, depending on how you want to setup, exactly.
However, if you want to keep the C6, and all that, and just want to fix the engine, then sell the Windsor and get a rebuilt or something since that's going to be more cost-effective.
(New 351M/400 (460?) 600-1000$. Windsor plus new transmission plus extra engine goodies plus possible transmission/driveshaft mods and such: 1500$ on up.)
Remember that even if an upgraded engine bolts to a transmission you may have transmission problems down the line. The increased HP and torque may burn out the transmission. They may not shift properly either.
