I have the original 6V electrical system, 1951 226H I6.
1. Should the wire running from the ignition switch connect to the (-) or (+) on the coil?
2. Why would the engine turn over, when pushing the start button, even if the ignition key is not turned on? The engine will turn over, when pushing the start button, when the key is in any one of the three positions.
The start button is hot wired to the starter, no matter what position the key is in the starter will still crank when the button is pushed. As for the ignition wire to the coil, I suggest putting it on the opposite side of where the points connect at the coil.
Wire from ignition switch on pos ground goes to the (-) side of the coil.
Wire from the (+) terminal on the coil goes to the distributer on pos grnd system.
