Compressing front spring

I am considering buying the daystar leveling kit and installing it myself with a buddy who owns a garage. The only thing we are worried about is compressing the front spring. Is it as hard to compress as we are thinking or does it compress pretty easy?

I used the tool available from Autozone with no problems.

Some of the guys who post must be excelent mech's, The daystar kit looks easier than it was, first, geta heavyduty spring compressor, they were tough with the compressor I got from auto zone, second taking apart the whole a-arm assembly was intemidating, third, you will need a press, vise or redneck press: mallet, to get new fittings in.... it was a preaty tough job, but well worth it in the end, perfect lift, no change in ride quality and very inexpensive... it can be done by you and your friend though.. first side 3 hours, second side 1.5 hours.. good luck..

As Silver points out a press makes getting the bolts out and putting the spring holder spacer in very easy. Mine also took about 4.5 hours - 3/1.5.

I also had the autozone spring compressor. Not as intimidating as it seems. Just go evenly on each side of the spring. I used a air gun and it went just fine. I would recommend a air rachet. When you do reinstall the spring assembly you will have problems tightening the bolts. A air gun helps. Also tighten again in a day not 500 miles, mine were in need of tightening immediatly. You can access these from inside the hood with a couple extensions.
If you have any doubts on the lift, I love mine. I think it looks like a 4x4 now. check out my pics.
