I have narrowed down the search for why I have intermittant turn signals to having a faulty turn signal switch (using the diagnosis tool in the tech articles, THANKS!).
My question is, I don't see any obviously burned out wires, corroded contacts, etc. in the newish turn signal switch (previous owner must have replaced it), so why is it that I am not getting 12V from one side of the switch to the other? Is there a quick fix I can do before I have the spend the bux on a new $80 turn signal switch?
With steering wheel off & turn signal on-- all contacts have power when hazards are on or when brake is depressed EXCEPT the single blue one on the left side (opposite the red wire on left).
The turn signal switch has two small pieces of wire that when the turn signal actuator is in a left or right turn mode they pivot back and forth to make your turn signal light up for the proper side. If you look closely at the actuator there is a small hole in there where I stuck a small probe and moved the wire around and walla
I had turn signal's on both sides. you have to dissasemble the actuator to get at the 2 small piece's of wire and with a litlle fine tuning (bending) you can get them to work correctly. There is 1 small bolt that hold's the actuator in place and unscrew the turn signal lever.
