i want to get Bazooka 8-inch Powered Subwoofer Tube (EL8A) ( link: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...24103?v=glance ) what do i need to do to install it?
i have stock stereo and speakers - i already have the speaker wires in the trunk but no ground and no power wire - when i buy the tube i just need power from battery and the speaker wires?? oh yea nd ground wire
there are amp "kits" that you can buy from Best buy or even walmart. If you use it by the high wattage one as i you are better off having to big of cable for power etc.. as if it is to small you could burn the cable
You shoudl be able to find these local for same price or cheaper.... Also make sure the cable will be long enough most range from 12- 18 feet...
Just do a rough measurement take the length of your vehicle plus the width of the vehicle if the power cable is that long you should have enough unless you are installing it in the complete rear as most people install then against the back seat about 2 feet from the rear.......
Also if you are installing into a stock radio you will have to splice into existing wires and run pair back to the tube.... as i doubt your stock radio will have rca outs luckily the bazooka accepts either.

Naa... just extend the rear speaker wires. Yes though, you will have to run your power wire directly from the batt. though. But your signal wires, you can just twist them to the appropriate location. It's a piece of cake.

Yes the Bazooka has built in Amp.
well i was assuming he was wanting to keep his rear speakers either way you would have to splice into the speaker wires.....
some people run it through the firewall (barrier between the inside of call and the engine compart ment) If you do that but a rubber gromet at autozone and cut an X in it stick the gromet in the whole you cut pull the cable throught , after it is through and everything is connected and inplace seal around the gromet and wire at the firewall with some silicon sealant.
or you can do similar but run it on the under side of your vehicle then do same process as the firewall entry.
I would say Firewall way is prefered as less exposure to elements.
to the positive batery terminal. They have kits at local stereo shop or even autozone that make it easier to connect it. make sure you put an inline fuse. that is rated for under your wire size 30 or 60 amp fuse should be good...
the amp installation has gone to hell i don't know what the hell im doing the kit isn't much help either. simply put the kit is very vague. put this wire on batter terminal connect this to amp................ good lord im left to figure out everything myself. it doesn't show how i connect the wires to the inline fuse it doesn't show much of anything ive got this junk and i don't know what half of it is for......im tempted to have some professionals install it even if it will cost 300 to save me from this hell. on top of that to get through the firewall i need a 5/8th drill bit so the wire ihave will fit, and i don't have this drill bit and it costs $20 at the local hardware store for it!!!! for something im only gonna use once! any body want to chip in real fast before i take a gun to my amp.
Take it easy, its really simple, it just takes some time. There should be plenty of holes thru the firewall already, just look under the passanger side dash and look for existing gromets to pass your power wire thru. The positive connection at the battery should be made with a large crimp on connector (should be in the amp kit), or attach straight to the battery clamp. The inline fuse should be right there next to the battery (it should already be part of the power wire). Then just run your wire back to the amp (you can run the wire under the sill plates or under the carpet) and attach to the positive input of the amp. The negetive wire needs to be as short as possible, so just find a good spot next to the amp to drill a sheet metal screw to the floor (scrap off paint and add some grease, check under the truck to make sure you will not drill into anything) Then just splice into the speaker wiring for the inputs to the amp. Just take your time, call a buddy to help you out and then go get some beers when your done!!
unfortantly the power wire is in pieces. they left it up to me to assemble EVERYTHING. so i have no idea how it goes into the inline fuse that came with it. there are no proper instructions on howt o do it either. the thing for the batter connector is a ring thats to small to fit over it. so im not sure how to connect it.
what kind of fuse holder is it? Is it one of those regular square fuses with two legs? If its its is probably in a wire loop with the little plastic holder for the fuse in the middle, right? You have to cut the wire (opposite the fuse holder) so you get equal lengths of wire on each side of the fuse holder, then splice that into the power wire. If the fuse holder is a big long round fuse (like the old type auto fuses) then those ususally screw together into two pieces and you attach the wire at each end with an allen screw. As for the battery conection, if the ring connector is two small, just cut half of if off (so it looks like a U) and attach it to the bolt at the battery terminal.
its a rectangular plastic box with two ends the the power wire connects to. one end is really short and has the ring for the battery, the other is the longer end for going to the amp. has a fuse that snaps in the middle and closes the connection. i don't have the proper tools to unscrew whats inside to put teh wire in.
wow sorry i didnt get to reply back to this sooner... first off slow down don't rush your installation cause if you do you won't be happy with it. two sounds liek people have already given your good advice.... as far as not having the tool try to borrow one from a friend heck take it up to autozone they would probably help you out for free to connect the wire..... good luck let us know how it goes......
