Question Hp=Tq.=Fun

I know this is beating a dead horse, but I'll ask anyway. I would like to get about 200 hp and 300 ft.lbs. from my 77 300. I was thinking of dropping in a cam, offy intake, holley 4bbl., heddman headers or EFI exh. manifolds, and a 2-1/2" exhaust. No cats because my truck never had them(ha ha). Would this meet my power goals? The engine is already .030" over. Is it possible that I have a HD 300? How do you tell? Thanks a lot

it should get pretty close. if your up to it, while your thrwoing cams and headers on, take off the head and port/polish the head a bit, itll help the top end quite a bit. and if you have the cash, throw in some 1.76/1.60 valves.

Thanks chuckman for your reply. I was thinking of port/polishing the head or bolting on a 240 head.

What difference in displacement will you see with the 240 head? It won't be a 300 anymore...

I would like to throw two things in here.. First have you ever heard of Clifford research and development?? their claim to fame is that 6=8.. The second thing is many years ago I raced the dirt tracks in Airzona and raced what was called supermodifieds, which were just like sprint cars but we were stuck with carburators instead of fuel injection.. In this group was three guys that run six cyclinder engines.. one 300 Ford and one GMC and one 292 chevy.. and they would show a lot of v8's how the races were won..
