2.9-4.0 ring gear

is a ring gear off of a 2.9 the same as a 4.0 they both are auto trans a4ld

My ranger had a 2.9l till i switched it to a 351w
it had a 5sp and they don't interchange as the 4.0 used the 8.8"
the 2.9 used a 7.5" ring gear
