Temp **** Problems

The cabin temperature **** on my '98 F150 4.6L is not working properly. When I try to adjust the control by turning the ****, it feels like the **** is "slipping" somewhat. I have to twist the **** left and right several times to get the **** to "catch" allowing the cabin temp to be adjusted as desired.

Anyboby else seen this problem and/or have ideas for troubleshooting and correcting the problem?

My 1999 5.4 does the same thing. I fixed the **** with epoxy and shot lube into the hole. It fixes it for a while but will do it again in a week or two. I dont know the permanent answer. Maby someone on this list does.

It seems to be a common problem, i would just get a new **** from the Ford dealer. It was not that bad on price. If you get one from the junk yard it might be cracked as well.

I had the same problem. Seems my cup of coffee(with 3 sugars)was spilling onto my temp ****. Sprayed some wd40 in the switch and got a new **** from the dealer and that fixed it. Check to see if you're not spilling your drink on the ****.
