In order to have a 6 ltr. psd in my '04 Econoline, I had to order an E350. The truck rides higher at the rear than I prefer (not to mention that it is overheight by about 1" on the local ferries) I would like to drop the rear by 2" or so.
Any ideas or products?
Why not remove the lift blocks (assuming they have them) and cut them in 1/2 or remove a few leaves from the pack since you do not need the load capacity? Usually lift blocks have an angle cut into them, so you have to use them, though cutting them in 1/2 poses no problem. Just make sure you do not change the driveshaft angle.
Those are the cheapest fixes and about the only thing I would do on a NEW truck would be remove a few springs or swap out the packs for a set of new ones.
I wouldn't cut them in 1/2 and I wouldn't take out a leaf. You may remove the blocks with no issues. Sometimes the block has an angle cut in it like he said, but when you lower the truck like that, you don't need/want that angle anymore. That would mean you'd have the angle of a high truck when it's actually low which would throw off your driveline angle. Just take out the block, if taking out the block lowers it too much (I think they're 4" blocks) you can just buy some 2" blocks and install those in it's place, they're cheap.
Thx Guys. Looks like the lowering shackles are the answer. (the axle on the E350 has lift blocks that are about 1 inch thick total - no joy there). Can the shocks withstand a 2" drop or should they be replaced at the same time ?
