Does the Powerstroke have catalytic convertors?

I'm close to buying a van for work. I've not decided what to buy, new or used, diesel or gas. All I know is that it will be a Ford E250 or E350 extended with the AOD-E/4R70W 4-speed auto (I'd rather have a manual but as far as I can tell, it's not an option). Once it's out of warranty, I'll want to free up the intake and exhaust. For a gas motor, that would include a bolt-in midpipe to replace the catalytic convertors between smog checks. Do diesels use catalysts?

It will depend on what year you get. Most of the early PSD motors had them (94-97), some of the 98 or 99 vans had them, but starting in 2000 most of them didn't. You should be able to see it mounted just after the downpipe near the tranny if you have one. The muffler will be back by the axle just before the over the axle pipe.
