The molding on the side of my truck is dent and just dosen't look very good. Do any of you guys know where I can get some replacement molding that uses adhesive instead of them darn clips
I've never seen stick on trim that was wide enough to look anywhere close to original trim...plus the convex mid body ridge would be difficult to apply any aftermarket peel-n-stick trim to.
I went to a local bodyshop/paint jobber and bought two inch wide stick on Ford truck mouldings and put in on my Aerostar when it was brand new. To protect the body. Cost about $100 a roll for the truck. I picked it from a catalog and the name escapes me. The old Ford truck mouldings were the THICKEST and widest stick ons there were
My cousins own a body shop/race shop. They stripped the wax off the vehicle (prepped the surface), heated the surface I think, stuck the mouldings on and painted it with SEM paint so it would match the van color. Most importantly, they did it straight and formed it around the bumper curves awesome.
It has been stuck on since 1995 and did not come off the side of the van even when it got broad sided. I guess I spent the money wisely, could have done it myself, but, I figured there must be a reason they have been in business for a couple of decades
It has even stuck to the front and rear bumpers when they got hit by other vehicles that badly damaged the bumpers.
So, I say, go for it and get the good stuff that gets sold directly to bodyshops and not mail order junk. Surface prep counts!
