351 trashed, i have a 302 that come from a car i dont know year, in a 84 brmco now, it is roller cam, but has a carb on it now. I have access to intakes and such for efi302's, how bad a swap would it be to but the 302 in there. Would i need a comp, what else? I believe they will bolt to trans?
Was the 351 a Windsor or a Modified? Do you have any reason to go to EFI, like emission requirements for your state? Is the tranny in the 89 computercontrolled and will require the computer to feed info after the swap?
was thinking efi cause if i go with the carb i would need to do something with the fuel pressure dont you think? i need to look at the trans, could be either i guess in an 89. we have no state requirements, so i could go with a carbed 302. thought if i went with an efi302 like came out in the broncos, it would be easier overall
The 302 and the 351w share the same bell housing patterns so your tranny should work. I would go with the EFI since the 351 was injected. I believe you will need to get a 302 computer though, I think the firing order was different (sorry, these aren't my strong spot).
Well i've found out that the truck allready has a 302 in it. They told me they could never get it running right, and they thought the dizzy gear had stripped, as someone had told them fords were know for this. The guy that traded it in did the swap, I am hoping that he did not swap the comp, and that if it is a pre95 30 it does not share the 351 firing order so it wont run right, i know ive done that before swapping 302's at the junkyard. He offered it to me for 800. im gonna try to get it cheaper since it dont run LOL. Hope i dont get burnt. They are gonna give me the name and number of the guy who did the swap, so i can get more info from him. Trying to keep them from figuring out how easy it could be to fix.
reddog do you have pictures of your 351 in you truck now? I'm putting a 351W in my 89 bronco. but got it from junk yard. and want to hook allthe emmisson stuff on it and i dont know how all the tubes run. thnx.
