2000 Windstar ? Transmisson Problems

I have a 2000 windstar with 53k miles ,auto trans and the big 6 engine. We heard loud banging noises 2 to 3 times . I jacked it up and rotated the axle front to back and heard clunking noises with small amounts of play . My wife has a bad habit of shifting on the fly and not coming to a complete stop. Could any one tell me what's going on? And how much it would cost to correct this issue or rebuild my tranny. Thanks for your help and God bless.

The Windstar is Front-Wheel-Drive. I would guess it's your CV joint that's acting up, not the transmission. Have that checked out first. It's cheaper.
