One of my really good friends brother was struck by lightning this morning standing at the bus stop waiting to go to Highschool.
He was either 16 or 17 (dont recall) but I just wanted to warn you all that this could happen to you. Please be careful when outdoors in a storm
It wasnt doing anything but sprinkling here and he still ended up struck...
I gotta go tho... not much i can really think of saying at the moment, its just now sinking in... but be careful everyone
You have my sympathies. My wife just told me about a headline on a cetral Arkansas teen hit by lightning. I didn't think it would affect an aquaintence of mine.
Very sorry to hear about your friend's brother. Remember, lightning can strike as far as 20 miles away from the storm. If you can hear thunder, you should seek shelter as soon as possible.
Update...
I just went and talked to my friend.
THeir next door neighbor seen him layin in the parking lot and didnt do anything about it.
His aunt found him 30 minutes later... they got him to ER, they revived him for 5 minutes, he wasnt feeling anything but was responding a bit, then he passed..
HIs mother is taking it really really hard. And so was his brother
Brandon and his Brother (Greg, the one struck) hadn't gotten along that greatly in previous years, but they had been getting along great and had played football in the backyard for the first time in years the nite before.
Atleast he passed knowing everyone in his family loved him, and had no hard feelings.
Greg and my brother were really good friends and school and I know its going to be hard on my brother going to school and not seeing him next to him in class anymore.
In all, it's hard on everyone. I just don't understand why the neighbor lady didnt do anything about him laying there.
I went and looked at the Church parking lot where he was struck... 11 places in the ground where it had hit the ground, and still pieces of material from his clothes on the parking lot.
He is in a better place now.... Struck down in the parking lot of God...
I kind of see it as being close to the Gate of Heaven...
Because he spent his last moments on Earth at a church, and now he is in a way better place. In the Hands of God.
P.S... You may edit this the way you want, but Yes.... I put in the hands of God, I referenced Heaven... if this is against site rules, Im sorry but that is where he is... In Heaven with God
Andy I'm really really sorry to hear about this. I hope the family and friends can pull together and help each other get through this. I know its hard to do, and is easier said than done, but remember he is in Gods hands now. If you need to talk we are here for ya, and if u just wanna talk one on one then u have my addy and if not then pm me. Take care bro and my condolences to the family and friends.
Update again.... The local FFA (which Greg was active in) is donating the flowers, the city is paying for the funeral, and several other clubs at the Highschool are pitching in for him

Teen killed by lightning strike

A Conway teenager died Wednesday after being struck by lightning in the parking lot of Meadowlake Baptist Church.
According to Faulkner County Coroner Patrick Moore, Gregory Pruett, an 11th-grader at Conway High School-West, was walking across the parking lot when he was struck by lightning on his right temple. A 911 call came in at 7:20 a.m., and Pruett was received at the emergency room of Conway Regional Medical Center at 7:45 a.m., Moore said.
"He had some minor cardiac activity when the ambulance got there. He was transported to the emergency room, but resuscitation was unsuccessful. They worked on him about an hour. He received a direct hit, so his chances were pretty slim," Moore said.
This is the only lightning-related death Moore knows of in his 15 years as coroner. He said Pruett was unconscious from the time he was hit and would not have suffered.
"He didn't know anything after he was struck," he said.
Pruett is the son of Jo Pruett, a single mother and a member of the city of Conway's Physical Plant staff.
A fund has been established in Greg Pruett's memory at First State Bank.

I know its against site rules, but please let us know if the family would accept outside donations to the memorial fund...

I'm not asking for anything.
Im sure they would accept it, as they weren't the most well off people in the world. But I don't want to get in any trouble for anything on here
If anyone wants to know if they will take it, then call that number. The area code should be 870 but being close to LR it may be a 501 area code. I do believe its 870 though andy could clarify this for everyone. Im sure they will take any help that is offered.
