Lightbulb Solid Front Axle

Lots of people want to put in a solid front axle on their broncos, but the kits for it on broncograveyard are pretty expensive. Well, heres my idea, I don't know if it's even possible, so I was hoping for some input from you guys. Couldn't you use the D44 from an F250? Just buy some 4 inch or so lift springs, fabricate a way to attach the shackles, and setup crossover steering. The brakes may also need to be changed, I don't know. Do you guys think it would work?

I just thought of something, the D44's would have 8 lug axles instead of the 5 lug. But you could always swap in the 9 inch for the back and have 8 lugs all around, right?

D44's came with both 5 lug and 8 lug rotors. The 8 lug set ups were on the F250 trucks and the 5 lugs were on the F150. All Ford 9 inch rear axles are 5 lugs. To get a rear axle with 8 lugs you need to step up to F250 or F350 rear axles which vary from Dana 60, 70 and the 10.25. There may be another rear axle model offered for the F250 and F350 trucks but Iam not aware of it. I have read that some where in the late 90's Ford had a metric 8 lug set up as well?
