Instrument Cluster
I have an 86 f150 my speedometer or gas guage dont work on the front or rear tank.someone on this site told me to start with the speedo cable It did not change I guess its something more serious could my whole instrument cluster be bad If so where can I get one?

Evin, before you replace your instrument cluster, check to see if the gear in the transfer case is bad that connects the speedo cable. I'm assuming you've already checked the plastic gear at the end of the speedo where it connects to the transfer case. My speedo cable was fine, just need to replace gear in transfer case. Good luck.

They must be two seperate problems. The gas guage is electric, and the speedo is mechanical. Check the cable for the speedo. As far as the gas, if it dosn't work for either tank the problem is probably not in the tanks. Start from the guage and work back. Check for good grounds, shorted wires, ect..
