Hey guys I have a little bit more than stock 352 and last nite i picked up a 4 barrel intake from a junkyard and I was wondering If doing this was worth it. I am not really looking for huge power but want to have a good performing engine and keep reliability. O and I currently have a 2 barrel holley.
I was also concidering putting on some headers that I got from a buddy for free. I have been looking at going to a petronix ignition setup or a Dui type dizzy which one of these would give me best performance for the money any help would be cool thanks
I have the cast iron 4 bbl intake and hooker headers on my 352 and I think there is a considerable HP gain, more air in and out of the motor. However you are very limited on flow from stock cast iron heads.
Sounds like a good low-buck hop up in the makings. You already have the manifold, the headers are free, a used 600 Holley is about $40 and you should be set. Go with the Pertronix, it will save you $200+ over the DUI. If I remember correctly, the stock heads on the 352 are more of a performance head with smaller chambers, they will handle plenty of HP with no problem.
What type of nitrous set up did you use, I am thinking about running nitrous on my 352 maybe just a 100 shot or less because i dont have forged pistons or crank, I have a 67 f-100, the motor is 352 bored.060, it has ported heads, and soon to have the crane 343901 camshaft, with long tube headers, and dual 2.5" exhaust, with a 500cfm 2 barrel is there a nitrous set up i can get for that
Would any of you guys do anything different or do you have any sugestions on other stuff I should do while im at it or anything else I should add to my build
son of a mother I was just workin on cleanin up my buddies headers and I found some tiny pin holes in one of the down tubes this is not cool. so now my ? is weather or not the stock manifold will flow well enough with a 600 cfm carb or should i find another set of headers i have a feeling you guys will tell me to get some headers so what kind should i get that will match up well with stock heads.
I have been running this system for months now (a 10lb. bottle every 2 weeks on average), on stock crank and cast pistons. You would need a four barrel for it unless you want them to make you a special 2 barrel plate. Some would say I am crazy on a stock motor but the FE will handle a 150 shot no problem. Above 150 I would be a little worried. Look at the second set of pics I have, particularly the last one.....that was in second gear from a dead stop I hit the switch as I nailed the throttle....and yes it has a locker in the rear spinning 3.73 gears out too 295 50 15's. I got out of the bottle when it hit 3rd..... And yes it will go way into 3rd smokin the tires.
