stuck distributer on 351m

About a month ago the distributer on my 351m was stuck to the block. I checked the forums an noticed this seemed to be a common problem with this engine. I got mine broke loose so I thought I would pass along what I did and maybe it will help someone else.Well first I soaked it down with Liquid Wrench penitrating oil for about a week, then I took the vaccum advance off of the distributer to get more room,( 2 screws and a E clip ). I took a small pipe wrench an worked the distributer back an forth a little at a time. It really moved! I figured it was going to break or come loose so I really had planned on buying a new distributer anyway, but it worked. Slapped it back together an now you can time it.

Remove the corrosion from the distributor and coat the surfaces with anti-sieze before assy.

Use anti-sieze any time that aluminum contacts steel or iron.

had same prob with 351 C

I had a really stuck one in a 73 ford mustang. After we broke off the top part of it. Then we took a die grinder bit and ground the remaining part of it down to 1 1/2 inch 12 point socket size. By setting the touble light close to bottom and looking into the center drive hole of the socket we could grind the 12 points we needed. We had to use a 3/4 socket set and some pv blaster. We had to clean out the fileings before we turned it lose. This did work for me and we didnt have to drop the pan. Hope this helps someone.
