Question Fuel Delivery Suggestions?

I've got a '70 F250 2wd w/352 thats been bored to a 390, so I was told by previous owner. Currently using a Holley 600(man. choke) and want to change. I've heard so many different opinions about carbs I'm not sure what would be a good choice in brand and model. This is a daily driver with no mods to speak of except headers and carb. Still using a points ignition but that may change as well if there is an easy conversion to electronic ignition available. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks,
Todd

Carbs are a harder decision than ignition. I would make the change in a heartbeat to electronic ignition. I changed over to a Crane Fireball system and would never go back. Set it and forget it. The cost is less than $100 and once it is in it never needs attention. I am still running a stock 2bbl and will probably upgrade someday but switching a manifold and deciding about which carb is far more $$ and trouble.

Thanks for the heads up on the elec. ignition. I'm checking into that ASAP. Regarding the carb issue, I'm not really interested in an application that would involve anything more than an adapter plate such as was the case when I installed the Holley 600. Reliability and fuel consumption are more of a concern.

Thanks,
Todd

Try an Edelbrock #1406 electric choke. It is set up for better mileage than the #1405 Manual choke.

Have you considered converting your 600 to electric choke and just rejetting it for better mileage?

The electric conversion takes about 45 minutes on the dining room table (of course, that's when it was when it was new out of the box -- I'd never get away with that on a used carb).

The jetting would take more time. I've been told that a book by Dave Emanuel (or somethig close to that) is pretty good at walking you through that process. This summer I'll be rejetting mine, carefully and systematicly, and will share teh results when I'm done.
