Alright guys, I've told y'all that I'm gonna be getting a new vehicle for driving back and forth to school, and I found this 2001 F-350 Ext. cab short bed, dually on eBay for $1K outta Texas. My question is, What kinda gas mileage do the Powerstrokes put out?? If I remember correctly I thought is was about 20mpg? can anybody help me out on this? Thanks.

I can't help you with the gas milage part , but wish to congratualte you on buying a used truck from Texas. That is the Truck capital of the US. More then likely the truck will have very little if any rust. unless its been damaged of course. I love Texas, they do it bigger and better. Gl with new truck...
I know!! My dad doesn't think its practical... having a dually at college, and he doesn't think it gets good gas mileage, that's why I needa find out, so I can prove him wrong, and since its in Texas!! ROAD TRIP!! I just gotta talk him into it.
I think Fordborn is pretty accurite. It depends a little on which rear end is in the truck and your driving habits. I have the 3:73's which I believe get the better of the two, but also truck configuration and weight have a little effect as well. Anyway, the blue book on that vehicle is still probably over 20K, so I would be very leary of any price that seems to low. On a side note, I just had my truck in the local Ford dealer and they charged me $90 for an oil change, up $20 since the last time. I will be shopping around before the next one, but that's a consideration before buying a diesel!!
Well, this one had the 4.10 rear end. I was $1K bC that's what the auction was at, its risen since then, and about the oil change... why not do it yourself? its much cheaper.
A dually will get old real fast unless you pull big things with it. A dually on campus?! Too much and a one ton to boot. I think you could find a much better vehicle for going to class than a F350 dually IMHO.
