I've been contenplating the idea of swapping out my stock 2BBL intake for an aftermarket 4BBL but thought I'd better check with the state of Missouri first.
Well, after many phone calls I got the answer I did not want to hear. I was told that I must retain an EGR valve on my truck. Sure I can use an adapter plate when I get the state inspections done but I really don't want to swap out carburetors and such once a year just to pass the visual inspection.
So, what can I do now? I'm thinking about rebuilding the engine sometime this fall but would like to make some plans before I start buying parts.
So, can I order the Performer #2171 and buy the 4V EGR adapter #8053 to fit on the intake manifold? Or do I order the Performer EGR and specify a 4V EGR adapter?
If everyone recommends a 600 cfm 4bbl for a street 400, why not get the Performer EGR, and run the 2bbl EGR spacer with a 500 cfm 2bbl? Just as good of a top end, better low end, and good mileage. And it will pass visual with no problems. Just food for thought.
