4 wheel drive dead

Can anybody give me some help on troubleshooting my 4 wheel drive system on a 98 F-150 EXT cab with a 4.6. I checked fuses and they are OK. Wondering what my next step would be? Is there a wiring harness in the kick panels that could be corroded maybe? Have voltmeter and ready to test. Thanks for any replies, Jordan

Just thinking but My 97 has fuses in three different places . One iside at the drivers knees two under the hood. One driver side front one passenger rear. Took me three days to find fuse for my trailer lights .

Sure wish I'de found this site 5 years ago.

Could you maybe try another GEM from the place that you got the last one at? If it sat a while and got water in it theat could be your problem.

Fuse 13 (15 amp)& fuse 23 (10 amp) under dash, fuse 17 (30 amp) under hood. Gem module gets signals from the brake light switch, the speed sensor, the trans sensor, and 4X4 switch to actuate.

Thanks for the replies. The GEM doesn't look like it had any water in it. It looked new and the connectors were still nice and shiny. Can you tell me a test for the sensors you mentioned?
