Injector Pump Going Bad?

Injector Pump Going Bad?

Well I Think Its That Time,,she Starts Fine Cold But Once She Gets Hot And You Let Her Sit For 15 Minutes Or So She Takes Forever To Start,,checked Out Glow Plugs And They All Checked Good,,relay Is Working Fine,,stopped By The Local Shop Today And He Got Under The Hood For About 4 Seconds And Said Right Away It Was The Pump,how He Knows I Have No Clue Cause All He Did Was Hold The Throttle Open,,then He Looked At Me And Said Here How It Broke Down At Higher Rpm,,said That It Was The Injector Pump Going Bad.have It Set Up To Go Into The Shop May 2,he Said For The Pump And Labor Id Be Looking At Around 750.00 So Im Gonna Go Ahead And Have It Done!!

Yeah, that is one sign of a bad pump. Another sign would be stalling after stabbing the throttle for a second. There's also a few others.

be hell of alot cheaper to do it yar self there not that hard if ya have basic knowlodge and a good book like haynes to guide ya thro it.

Yeah, doing it yourself you could save around 150-200 dollars. I know that for some, that's money well spent!

When I was looking for an IP here's a place that was nice enough to respond. I ended up using a use one from a friend. The installation is pretty simple if you've ever done much wrenching.

His price was $200 and $12 shipping to anywhere in USA and $90 core charge (if your is worthless)

just installing it rebuilding is best left alone to profesionals plus ya have to be certifed so ya dont make the engine casue more polution.

might be the pump

i work in an injection shop now just holding down the throttle will really not tell you crap, if you live near a injection shop have them hook a flowmeter to the return and see what that looks like its about the best tell tale sign, if its high that means you advance piston inside the pump is worn and its time to rebuild it, now $750 thats nuts unless you end up having to put in a new head and rotor, but otherwise we do them for $410 exchange or they run right around 450-500 let me know what happens

Well Got My New Pump On And My God What A Difference It Made!!
Puts Out Just The Right Amount Of Smoke Now And I Mean She Will Just Flat Out Haul Assphalt.cost Me $721.83 To Have A New Pump Put In,new Filter,cultch Bushing,clutch Rod,new Wire On One Of My Glow Plugs,and One New Fuel Line.without A Doubt The Best Money Ive Ever Spent.i Venture To Say I Could Come Close To Out Pulling My Powerstroke Now!!!!!!
