I have an 84 F-250 and the speedo dosn't work so I changed the cable and the speedo and it still dosn't work. My ? is is there a way to change the gear in the t case without taking the t case apart.

I've got the same problem with my '80 F250 400. To the best of my knowledge, I've got to take it apart and put the new gear in it. Would also love to hear an alternative. Anyone know what type of $$ this gear costs?

are you guys talking about the drive gear inside the transfer case? Are they nylon gears? Can i ask how you diagnosised that as the problem? Did you take the instrument cluster and the speedo out, drive around the block while watching the cable?

I have the same problem and was told my gearbox would have to come out, seems a lot of work just to get a speedo going. I'll be watching this post with great interest!!
