I have a 6-lug chassis with full floating rear axle, the center section appears to be a Ford 9inch, but the 6 lugs for the wheel bolt pattern are throwing me off.
Did Ford use 6 hole (kinda a wide pattern) in the 40's for 3/4ton or 1iton pickup?
It's not Chevy/GMC, the pattern is much wider. The wheels are "split-rim" style and 16inch IIRC.
The rear of the '40's big trucks were full floating, however they don't look like a 9" rear. Ford did have 6 lugs on the 1 tons in the 1940's (IIRC). The wheels onthe 1 tons were 17". Does the rear look like the orig? Maybe it got swapped at some later point in time? The wheelbase of a '42-'47 (and into the early '50's I think) 1 ton was 122". I'm not sure about the pre '41's.

I'm getting all my junk confused with one another
This doesn't resemble a 9inch rear.
It has 10 bolts and shaped like a DANA rear cover, but much larger than a 44.
The wheels are not split rim, but 17.5 inch one piece steel wheels. (single wheels, not dual's)
The frontend is also 6-lug.
I'll measure the WB if the rain lets up in the next hour or so.
I think the '48 and later had a rear end with a cover like you described. One of my trucks came with a '48 rear that looked like that, but it was a 1/2 ton truck. Might want to try out the '48-'60 forum, and see if anybody there has a 1 ton truck (I'm sure somebody does) to see if maybe you have a '50's rear. The 1 tons had the single rear wheel, no duals.
