gas gauge moves
My gas gauge isn't reading correctly. It hasn't shot up above full like I have heard of some doing. I have a 92 f350 with the 460 v8 with dual tanks. Sometimes the fuel gauge reads empty, and then will go up a little, maybe to a 1/4 of a tank. When I switch it to the other tank, it reads close to empty too (but I don't think there is much fuel in that tank, so it is probably an accurate reading.) Does anybody know if my gas gauge moving around will ever leave me stranded on the side of the road? Or is it just an electronic malfunction? Any ideas on what to do to fix this. I have read other gas gauge symptoms, but haven't found any just like mine. Thanks for your time, Kyle

Why don't you put some gas in the other tank and see if it reads correctly instead of assuming there isn't much in there? You probably need a new sending unit the tank. A bad guage or sending unit won't leave you stranded but running out of gas because you didn't know how much fuel you had will.

I have the same truck and never seen mine on full even when pulling out of the gas station! 
The tanks are huge and the gas floats so depending on the angle and where the float is located can cause the gauge to give different readings.

It won't leave you stranded unless you run out of gas, always keep some in the other tank. The sending units aren't very reliable, my rear tank dosen't register at all and my front is only accurate down to 1/2 tank.
