Step Bar Brackets

I just installed a set of Westin Oval Tube Step Bars on my XLT Supercab. The supplied brackets fit exactly to the truck but the drivers side front bracket interferes with the emergency brake cable. I have considered notching out the bracket but am worried about making the bracket weak. I was able to push the cable up and it is now currently resting on the top of the bracket. I could move the front bracket back to where the center bracket goes but then there would be no support in the front. \

Any suggestions?

I just put mine on last week and moved the cable up over the top of the bracket. It had a rubber shield, so I don't think rubbing will be a problem for a while. It seems to work just fine.

Thanks for the reply. I just put my cable over the bracket as well and it seems to work okay. I called Westin to see if they had more people calling but they were not very helpful. I guess I will not worry about it. Thanks.
