Question RFI on Fords, but not other companies?

I have been experiencing, what I consider, poor reception with the radio in my Escape. The best way I can describe it is if you are tuning your radio, and let's say the frequency you want is 93.1, but it actually sounds sometimes like I'm tuning to 93.0, or if you're tuning an old dial radio and you don't quite have the tuning just right. Anyway, from what could be possibly cured by installing an RFI filter. I've heard that Ford has had this problem going back to the early 90's, and was surprised to hear that this isn't a problem in other car company radios. Anyone have any information on this problem? I'd appreciate any help.

My 02 Escape and 98 F150 worked okay. I've lived in the same area for 40+ years and the reception is no better/worse than Nissan/Toys/Hondas/GMs that we've owned. Okay, probably a little better than some of the pre-1980 vehicles.
