Has anyone had problems with their tank selector switch. I have a 69EB and when I try to switch into the aux. tank the motor cuts out like its not getting fuel even though both tanks are full.
Any quick fixes or other ideas would be appreciated.
aux tank is plastic and pretty easy to take out. so the tank is not rusted gotta have something in the pick up clogging it?? exploritory surgery to fix it right.
You are switching the mechanical switch under the seat and not just the dash switch, right?
When I bought my first Bronco, my dad would occasionally drive it to work. He ran it out of fuel a couple of times forgetting that there were 2 switches.
Assuming 1 tank is pulling fuel, check the lines from the switch to the auxillary tank. Maybe check the sending unit itself for damage.
O.K. I'm an idiot! When I filled the tank after I bought it the fuel bounced off the back of the filler neck and shut the pump off. So what I thought was a full tank turned out to be empty.
I was trying to siphon out the fuel to drop the tank and got nothing but air, So that's how I found out it was empty. I filled it really slow at the pump and it works fine.
Kinda embarassed to admit that was the problem, but I'm glad I found out before I dropped the tank.
