Was driving home yesterday and turned onto an on-ramp was eccellerating up the ramp and heard a large noise like I ran over a metal trash can come from the transmission. The truck immediately lost power and sounds completely diffrent has no acceleration at all and cant go over 60 MPH any one have any idea what might have happened here. I am afraid to drive it any further and will have it towed in. I was not towing anything and vehicle has 2700 miles so far. I appreciate any help you guys could give me.
Brock, pls post w/an update if possible. I'm also curious about which dealer you took it to, if they fixed it and how the experience was w/ them. I live in VB also and have had experience w/ Beach and Freedom Ford...I'm in the market for a truck. Good luck, Mike
Yesterday my 11/03 built F350 x4 C&C 2004 (7,000 mi) did a similar thing accelerating upgrade( manual trans) There was a noise associated with it that both felt like and sounded like it came out of gear. No power, black smoke, louder turbo whine etc. Dealer came and towed it today. sounds like same problem with turbo hose blow off-sure hope it was no more than that. Stay tuned.
Some 2003-2004 Super Duty F-series And Excursion 6.0l Vehicles May Exhibit A Lack Of Power And/or Low Boost Pressure Condition. This May Be Due To The Hot Side Charge Air Cooler (cac) Tube Blowing Off. To Service, Replace The Cac Tube/hose (single Generator 4c3z-6c646-ba / Dual Generator 4c3z-6c646-ca). Clean The Hose Mating Surfaces To Make Sure They Are Free From Oil, Then Position The Rubber Connectors All The Way Onto The Turbocharger And Charge Air Cooler Fittings Before Tightening The Clamps To 12 Nm (9 Lb-ft).
If it is not your turbo hose, check on passenger side of intercooler see if you blew the side off of it. You have to look between the two pieces of rubber, if you can see the orange gasket then you blew the side off it. I've done that twice, and the turbo hose once. They finally put on new turbo, fixed problem so far.
Truck was fixed in an hour at Freedom Ford doesnt seem to be a big deal just fixed the CAC you guys were right on the money with the diagnosis. Sawdust I have had some issues with Freedom in the past dont care to much for the heavy duty truck service department. But I want to keep sending the truck there for continuity if I continue to have issues then it is easy to explain the history.. I would definately buy from them but I would choose a diffrent service department if I were you.. Beach Ford seems to have there act together although very busy and hard to get an appointment at times. Hope this helps. This is a great forum thanks for all the replys and help to all!! Brock
