Have opportunity to purchase following: MILLERMATIC 250 amp mig welder, with tank
New Lincoln AC/DC Arc welder used very little
Victor oxy/acetlyne cutting torch/welder
Auto darkening hood
50 lbs welding rods
Seller wants $1700 for all.
I would like to know the difference between the miller 250 and the miller 251 Have there been issues regarding the old millermatic 250 mig welders
Would this be a good price for these items
I don't know about any issues with the Miller 250, but I would suggest going to the Hobart welding talk site, there are alot of very knowledgeable people there who are more than happy to help.
For what its worth I really don't think this a very good deal as a new Miller 251 from "Cyberweld" is $1,700.00 with free shipping, the Lincoln arc are not expensive at all. What kind of auto darkening helment ? and victor torches without tanks and carts are all over E-bay.
Just an opinion
I'd say its not a terrible deal. A new 251 will set you back around $1700 if you buy from some Miller dealers, they throw in the cool American flag auto shade helmet for free. A new Lincoln stick sells for about $250-300. Like Incommunicado stated, Victor torches are cheap on Ebay compared to new. So, all in all, your saving around $6-700 by buying used stuff. There is nothing wrong with the old 250 Millers, as long as it wasnt abused by welding beyond its rated duty cycle. So, I'd ask the guy how long it will weld at say 30 volts before the overload kicks off the power. If he says it will weld forever, he's lying. If he says it does it alot, he abused it. Just my 2 cents worth.
