door jamb switches needed

for a 79 Ford F150 4x4 p/u standard cab. I need a source to find two of them(new hopefully). I bought some from a on line Ford truck repro store and they are too long (1in plunger) and will not allow the door to close without bending them. My local Ford dealer does not have them either. They only need to have a plunger that is 3/8 - 1/2 " long max, but they need to have the circular 3 pin connection for the factory door wiring pin connector. I have checked Motorhaven, Dennis C, lmc, JeffsBronco, no luck, . any help will be greatly appreciated,

The door pin switches that I have used in the past always seem long. The first time you close the door the switch will self adjust its length. Maybe that is what you bought.

Good tip guy !. I was afraid I would ruin it, so I didnt push it. I'll try your instructions today, I didnt know they were self adjusters, MANY thanks!

It worked ! When the door is closed, it self adjusts the brass sleeve on the switch and locks it in place. I have just always learned not to force things and was afraid of bending the plunger. A little paper instruction sheet with the switch would have been nice too, letting the customer know about the auto adjustment feature. thank goodness for FTE, You guys are the best !
