The drivers seat belt on my 93 is squeaking constantly. I removed a few of the screws holding on the trim panels and peeked in where the belt coils up. That assembly looks to be pretty well encased in plastic, and not easily accessible.
Is there any easy way to lube this thing and get rid of the noise?
I'm a new member and haven't posted anything, so I hope I am doing this right.
Saw the post from eds 72 about the squeaky seat belt, and wanted to chime in. I realize that was in 2004....but, didn't see any replies.
I'm having the same trouble in my 97 250 HD. I removed the assembly, but did not open it. I tried a dry silicone spray lubricant, with short lived success. Also tried Tri Flow with same results.
I'm about to pull the assembly back out, and against the warnings, try opening the assembly (probably with much regret). Got to be some way to stop the SQUEAKING!!
I'm all ears if someone knows something. I'll post back if I come up with a fix.
Great photo! Thanks for the reply.
It's been awhile since I looked for a replacement belt, but I think they were a little pricey. And I'd like to stick with the grey color. The replacements I've seen are usually black.
I think the squeak may be from lack of use! The seatbelt, that is. Got this truck from a guy that bought it new when he retired. Kept it in the garage and drove very little.
1997 250 HD 4x4 ECLB, 460....had 32,000 miles on it. Pretty much like new.
Need to get around to posting some pics.
Thanks again for the reply.
