I'm getting closer.... I recently purchased a factory DVD player from E-Bay for my 02 EX. (NOT A ONE DAY INSTALL!!!) After a lot of advise I finally have it installed however..............The radio doesn't seem to recognize it. The DVD player works great but I don't have any sound, the radio continues to play even though the DVD is on. I have the single CD/cassette radio. Does anybody know if I have to press anything to get sound, it cycles through FM1 FM2 AM even CD and cassette but I never see DVD. I didn't go through all this to watch silent movies............. any suggestions. Once I get my system working properly I will be glad to post how to instructions so you don't go through what I did.
Your factory deck won't recognize the dvd player. It's not designed to. You'll need to upgrade to a higher model factory player, maybe out of an Expedition/Excursion/Windstar with factory video.
I have a new 05 F-150 and purchased the DVD system with it.
I just purchased a SONY CD/MP3 player so I could run my iPod through it. But, after purchasing I found out that the factory DVD could not plug into the stereo directly. I was told I need some sort of Converter to attach to the DVD wiring to be able to plug it in to the Stereo. Can someone clarify if this is correct, and if so, can you recommend where I get this converter.
did your DVD system completely stop working when you removed the radio? I have seen this many times when I put a new radio into other trucks but have yet to work on a F150 with the factory overhead.
I am actually not sure, because I soon as I found out the DVD sound wasn't going to work, I asked stereo shop not to install until I found out how to make it work. They suggested only the sound would not work, but I am not positive. Do you know where I can get an adapter or converter? Have you heard of this before?
