Column Shift Would Not Go Into Gear

Column Shift Would Not Go Into Gear

I JUST WANTED TO POST THIS TO MAYBE HELP A MEMBER IF IT EVER HAPPENS TO THEM.THE OTHER DAY I WAS PULLING A FRIEND'S BOAT WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY BLINKERS STARTED GOING CRAZY AND MY ABS BRAKE LIGHT CAM ON.WELL I GOT TO MY FRIEND'S HOUSE AND UNHOOKED THE BOAT WELL LOW AND BEHOLD WENT TO DROP IT IN DRIVE AND IT SHIFT ON THE COLUMN WAS LOCKED IN PLACE.IT WOULD NOT GO DOWN IF MY LIFE DEPENDED ON IT.WELL I GOT UNDERNEATH AND UNHOOKED THE LINKAGE AND SHIFT IT MANUALL INTO DRIVE JUST TO MAKE IT HOME.CHECKED ALL OF THE LINKAGE ALL THE WAY UP INTO THE STEERING COLUMN TO SEE IF IT WAS BROKEN.EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT O.K.MY TRANSMISSION MECHANIC BUDDY WHO LIVES NEXT DOOR TO ME SAID LETS CHECK 1 THING FIRST THE FUSE BOX.HE TOLD ME THAT THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL LOCK IN THE COLUMN FOR THE SHIFT AS WELL AS THE KEYED IGNITION.SUR ENOUGH HE WAS RIGHT I HAD BLOWN A FUSE.UPON CHANGING THE FUSE IT BEGAN WORKING FINE.BUT BE AWARE YOU CAN BARELY SEE THIS FUSE IN THE FUSE BOX.IT IS AT THE VERY TOP AND IT IS A 15A. AT FIRST GLANCE I DID NOT SEE IT BUT YOU HAVE TO GET DOWN ON YOUR KNEES TO SEE IT. I JUST WANTED TO POST THIS SO MAYBE I COULD HELP ONE OF MY FELLOW CLUB FTE MEMBERS.I KNOW EVRYONE HERE HAS BEEN VERY GENEROUS ON HELPING ME WITH PROBLEMS I HAVE COME ACROSS AND EVERY TIME THEY WERE RIGHT.THANKS CLUB FTE
