Rancho shock install help

Just got my Rancho RS9000x shocks for my '96 F150. What is the red nylon twist tie for?? I assume I put it around the red boot that goes on the shock. What is a good setting for just regular driving and should the front and the back be set the same.

I run mine almost always at three in the city.I have the compressor and gauges so i change them all the time but most time is spent around 3.Front and back unless you done some suspension work.

Shocks

I have the cockpit adjust as well. Even at firmer settings, I notice more "bounce" than with the factory Shocks, especially at highway speeds. Do you have the same?
