rear end question

what calibrates your rear end ratio to you speedometer, is it programed into your computer or what? im wanting to switch front and rear ends with my dad.

What year truck are you talking about? I think its all computer controlled and would need a programer (Hypertech, Diablo, ect.) to change it or take it to the dealer.
