5.8 difference

I'm looking to replace the 5.8 in my '93 F250 (casing #FOAE-AA) with a 5.8 from a '96 F150 (casing #F4TE-AA). The '96 has a roller cam that the '93 doesn't. I doubt this matters much, but has anybody heard of problems with this kind of swap?

From what I understand you will have a computer problem. They changed the electronics after 93. You should do some research before you do it but if all it is is the computer those are cheap. Ed

I could be wrong but I don't know why you would have a problem. They both use the same firing order and if you use your efi setup you should be okay. If the 96 is mass air, which it probably is and you try a direct swap you would have problems, but using your efi/computer I would think it would be fine. Just use the distributor with the f4te motor or change your distributor gear so its compatible with the roller cam. The f4te block is what a lot of folks look for. To erase all doubt you could install an aftermarket roller cam designed for a speed density truck, slap your intake up on the roller longblock and be good for sure. Good luck with your truck
