Color codes

I need an EVTM!I am trying to diag a no charge on the little womans T-bird,I went and bought a $20 chiltons,(in a plastic wrapper)it said wiring diagrams included right on the front.Opened it up,and yeah its got a pretty little drawing of a square box. (represents V-Reg) and says this wire goes here and this wire goes there.BIG DEAL!I already knew that, all I wanted their stupid book for was color codes!Do you think they would put color codes on their diagram,NOOOO,Somebody had gotten under the hood of this car and just butchered the wiring, and I admit I am getting old and cant remember the color codes on a car from 20yrs ago,and that is why I need the color codes, but the chiltons manual does have a nice picture on the front,so I guess I can frame it!Ok I will stop whining,oh yeah it is a 1986 2.3L turbo, man I wish I could still be able to go online and get this info from Ford, but I dont work in a dealership anymore and they dont want to help if you are not registered through a dealer.

Y/W = A
No color designated circuit 48 = S
LG/R = -/+

Well, thats the thing, the butcher replaced all of the wires comming out of the v-reg with yellow wire,so now I have a banana harness,so I think I will try and locate one in a bone yard so I can get the connector and about 8in of wire and figure this nightmare out!

Four wires on regulator. FASI, field to orange wire connector on alt., stator to black conn. to power choke heater, ignition from dash light or guage to turn it on, Batt. pos. from alt. to starter solenoid. What else?

on the reg there is blade connectors,no plug in type connector,it has no id on it to verify who goes where(AFTERMARKET JUNK) and nothing but yellow wires,it used to have the knock sensor wired to the oil press sensor and a hot wire arcing on the fuel rail so it gives you an idea of what kind of spagetti I am dealing with.I cant seem to find anything this old in a bone yard, any idea how new I can go?

IS this an external regulator? The 88 book I looked at had internal regualated alternator.

Well if it helps at all I pulled a regulator off the shelf, with the plastic lock tab and cover at top side and pins below, you have 4 pins. One is to the left marked I, followed by a space where there is no pin, then 3 pins, marked A, S, F in that order. If you follow that with what Fordtech1 posted that might be enough to solve it for you.

Thanks Dave
that was just the schematic I was looking for,one other question, this person who butchered these wires must have had a connector problem because they have all been removed.I was able to trace back and correct the oil press circuit, but I cant find any wire that the knock sensor went to,I am a little leary of trying to back probe to determine where it went, the only wires that are still hanging out of the loom are w/p.any ideas off the top of your head?He also has the low oil probe wire just hanging .If you can think of anything off the top of your head,Im all ears, but I dont want you to go through alot of effort.I am thinking I will just tape these off and forget about them.I am thinking on an old system like this it wont effect ecm strategy if they are not hooked up anyway.

The knock sensor is pretty important on a turbo engine. It keeps the timing in check when the engine goes into boost. If you hear a lot of rattling in the engine under boost, you can cause damage. The knock sensor wire color is yellow/with red dots.
