Edelbrock makes an intake manifold for 5.0 F-150's. Would that match the H.O. 5.0 in mustangs? Also BBK makes a larger throttle body for 302-351 engines. It's a 56mm throttle body. I'd like to see the intake manifold, throttle body, and a K&N air filter on the truck. That might give trucks some kick.

does anybody know what a spacer between the upper and lower intakes will do for hp and torque?

Everything has to work together. For example, improving the intake without also improving the exaust, may only obtain marginal gains, because the ablity to bring in more air can only be realized if the spent air is exhaled. Controling these two systems, is the cam. It has to be right to make the systems work together. I know a guy that installed the BBK 65mm throttle body on a Mustang and all it did was reduce low end tourqe by it's self. Later when he installed a C&L 73mm mass air meter, he got back all the lost tourqe and then some. The throttle body required the bigger mass air meter to do it's thing. The bigger mass air meter didn't do much by it's self either, but together the two peices gave impressive results. The total system approach is a higher up front cost but it means that the improvements you hope for, and pay for, are actually realized.

What the spacer does is help the incoming air stay a bit cooler, because the upper intake manifold is better insulated from engine heat. This results in a denser air charge with slight increases in tourqe and HP. It will also increase the distance from the plenium to the intake port slightly. This will slightly lower the RPM that peak tourqe is reached.

doesn't engine coolent run though the upper intake plentum? if so i can't see how the spacer would keep the air any cooler?

^ Coolant only flows through the throttle body.

Yes you can , I did it on my truck and have had no problems at all. If you live in a very cold climate I wouldn't suggest it because the coolant going through the throttle body keeps it from freezing up.

Isn't the coolant circulation at that point, to keep the EGR stuff from overheating?

ok both of you make good points, i dont think i will reroute it. the only reason i asked is i like to keep things simple under the hood and you all know how much of a mess ford has made under the hood. i just figured a couple less rubber hoses would make it simpler. i have alreaddy eliminated a lot of the bull that comes stock. hopfully soon i will have some pics to show every 1
