What does everyone use for a vinyl protectant, I get alot of guys telling me that Armor All drys out the vinyl?? I've been using Mothers for a while.
Just lookin for a few different opinions
I consider Armor All about the worst. I like Meguiar's Shine and just started using 303 Aerospase Protectorant. It works great for restoring color to fiberglass. It's supposed to cut UV fading 100% so should be good for tires. I never liked using anything on my tires but I think I'll try this stuff.
I use STP's vynol stuff on the interior (vynol, plastics) with no problems. Tires I either leave alone or if I'm going somewhere important I'll use this tire shine stuff but that's only on rare occasion.
For off-the-shelf products, Meguiar's and Mother's are generally the best.
Probably the most used product (by detail professionals) for interior dressing is Poorboy's Natural Look. This can be purchased at www.premiumautocare.com.
By the way, I was looking into wash/polish/wax products recently (I'm purchasing a '05 F150 later this year) and discovered this site: www.detailcity.com.
That's right, an entire forum dedicated to auto detailing. I've learned some fascinating things from the pros over there....
I just started using the 303 Aerospace Protectant and I love it. It is not too shiny and not slippery. I use it on the running boards and they look good and the kids don't fall off of them.

i've been going there for a few months now. they really have some good advice there. its just like this forum.
i found it the same way. i was researching different wax and polish brands and came across it.
Not too many places carry it around here. I got mine at Camping World. Go to their web site at www.303products and you can find your local dealer.
Thanks, I looked on their website and found a boat store that has it. Cant wait to get some, have you tried their fabric protectant? I was wondering if it was good too.
I used to use Vinylex. Then I liked 303. NOW I use Einszett stuff. For exterior rubber, mirrors, bed cover, and trim I use Einszett Tiefenpfleger. It lasts for weeks. It wont wash off in the rain, car washing. It doesnt run. For interior vinyl I use their Cockpit PremiumIt cleans, and protects all in one. Plus the finish isnt glossy.(If you want a more glossy look use the tiefenfleger).
Nuff said.
Hands-down - 303 Aerospace Protectant.
I live in BRUTAL weather country in Northern Calif ... Below freezing most all winter and 120 degrees for weeks on end in the summers. SO.... this stuff has to be good.
If you use it right - not only will it keep your vinyl looking good, it will repel dust, dirt, static electricity, etc.. etc.. while blocking out UV completely.
I have spoken with the reps many times and the one thing that they ALWAYS stress is that you have to really have to buff the stuff out .... spray, wipe, get a new dry towel and wipe some more.... till it is slick. It works even BETTER than if you just spray it on and wipe it off ... take the time .. it is really worth it.
Yep !
I have used the Fabric Guard (actually I use all their products) you should see the example / samples they send to car shows... it is a high absorbancy paper towel that has been sprayed with the stuff... you can sink that thing in a bucket and it still stays dry. Apparently, as it says on the website, it just whooped ScotchGard's butt in a comparison test.
Yes... I like it
