There are a couple that I know of. One of them being the SROD. This is one you want to stay clear of due to the fact that it is more of a car transmission meaning it is intended for light duty truck use at its best. I have one in my 82 bronco and I am waiting for it to explode. I think that I have put in its second set of input and output shaft bearings at 200,000 miles. The transmission is now making so much niose it is almost unbearable. I forget what the other is called but I believe it came after the SROD. It may be called a TROD, but I am not positive.

Check out the 300 six thread. Lots of discussion about trans replacements. Also the Ford Van thread. This keeps coming up. I have what I think is a Ford top loader 4 speed od. Geared like a 3 speed, with 4th over. Grand Canyon 2nd to 3rd. The M5od and ZF are discussed a lot. You got a juice clutch? You'll need one on the M5od and ZF. Read on.
