Ahhh memories. Funny, but I get warm feelings from nearly all the prior posts, because in some way, most of the things done are in the logfile of my own memories. Sadly, those days are gone forever. I wonder what kind of "warm" memories this younger generation will have when they are in their 50s.

i'm 20 and i've done all those things on that list. i'm glad i can still say that a lot of the things on that list are still happening to kids around here...my cousins (as well as many other farm kids i know) still make up games, have to work, and get hurt all the time and they're only 10 at the oldest. its sad those days are leaving

I'm 19 and remember a lot of those things too. Things change slower in small towns like where I grew up. When I was born my family lived in a log cabin that was built before the Civil War on 120 wooded acres in southeast Ohio. There was no gas furnace, only a woodstove, and blacksnakes lived inside the walls, but were welcomed since they ate the mice. The black & white TV picked up 2 channels (in good weather) and the phone was on a party-line (do they still have those anywhere?). Then we moved to a small town which had better jobs and better schools. I know I've had it pretty easy, and I don't think there is any better place to grow up than in a small midwestern town. Someday I would like to move out to Colorado or maybe down to Tennessee and build a house on 100+ acres (with a 10 car garage, of course).
