Exhaust

Thinking about putting on an exhaust system from the exhaust manifolds back. What systems do you guys have on your trucks and what kind of performance, milage, and sound gains did you get. I have straight pipes now but with gas being so expensive I need to regain the milage lost but I don't want it to be as quiet as factory. I would also like to regain the low end tourqe I lost with pipes.

I have a single flowmaster with 45 degree angle tips. It helped it okay, got some torque increase with it. The big change came when I put on the KN FIPK, a noticable increase in horse, torque and gas mileage. It's no race car, but for a Bronco- she'll run. Hehe, beat a 96 explorer tonite in a stop light race. But anyways, the part of the KN is when we headed home for spring break and we stopped for gas. My brother asked if I needed gas and I said no it's only used a quarter tank. His 87 f150 inline 6 used way more (not sure how much i didn't ask him) but he a good bit of gas to make it home. My truck only used half a tank to go from auburn to huntsville al, average speed was 72-76 mph. -BBB

Smile Exhaust

I have taken out they y pipe and went straight back from the headers with 2 Flowmaster 50 Series mufflers and continued straight out the back ending with 2 boom tubes. Definite increase in power and the sound is incredible.

I have a Bassani high flow Y pipe, with high flow cat (stainless steel) that dump into a Gibson catback(Stainless). I also have Bassani ceramic headers (but you asked from after manifolds). If you visit the website in my signature, there should be some sound clips of my current system (Gibson), as well as the catback that I sold off (Bassani, and was awesome). I have gained better passing power, as well as mid range pickup. The torque band is slightly higher, but increased. I have picked up 1mpg (but thats very hard to maintain while you are trying to "hear" your truck). Tell me what you think of the clips.

Welcome to FTE. This Power pack is a glasspack, correct? If will burn out over time, causing it to get louder. If you do not want to wait, one way to "help" the process along is to get those babies super hot, then douce them with cold water multiple times.

I would say leave it on, that way, it will be continually heating while you are dousing it with the cold water. The switching between both extremes (heat and cold) should expedite the process.
