A buddy of mine wants to find a good used PSD (can you blame him). His credit is shot, so he has to go with used. I am trying to help him look and was just wondering which year he should aim toward. He has found a '99 with 129000 miles. The engine looks OK, but it seems to lack power off the line.....unlike my "02. The truck has the 4R100 and 3.73's. Once it gets wound up, the power seems fine. Is there anything strange about this, or is it just that the '99's were rated a little lower than the '02's? I told him to look around and find one with less than 100,000 miles, so at least there is a little engine warranty left in case something major happens that may be covered. It is just that this '99 seems to me to be a real good deal, and it is a clean truck.
>I just got my 2002 PSD F350. It's got noticably more power
>then my 99 does, in just the way you mentioned, off the line
>power.

Hey motobub, I drove the '99 ...he went ahead and got it. And this one seems to pull just as hard as my '02. I think it is chipped or SCMT'd. I said nothing though since his head swells very easily and I would hate to have to get into my PSD and crank it up just to put him in his place!
