stereo question.....

Okay, I am looking to install an under dash mount cassette player (you know, the kind they quit making 20 years ago). I have a stock in dash 6 disc changer in my X now. What is the easiest way to install this? Is there any chance that there might be a "line-in" on the back of my stock stereo? Or, will I not be able to hook it up at all?? Will I have to go out and buy a whole new after market stereo for this to work? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't think there is an easy way to do that. The stock unit probably doesn't have an aux. input, unless you have the DVD system, I think those do have it. Are you just trying to add a cassette player? Unless you have a huge cassette collection you just can't live without, I would just get the CD's.
I guess that doesn't help much.........
Some of the other guys can probably add more info.

You could get an FM modulator and feed that from the line-out of the cassette deck. Then you just tune your stock radio to 88.1 or something when you're playing cassettes. Radio Shack will have something like that.

I've already got the FM modulator thing. Hate it - The unit itself isn't bad, I just hate all the wires layin around.

I think I have decided to just go with replacing the stereo with the cd/cassette combo that come stock in alot of ford vehicles.
I am guessing that if I go this way it will match right up to the plugs and fill the opening exactly the same as it is now - this I think would be my cleanest and easiest way to go about the whole thing.

Thanks

depends on the year, and do you really want to pay the dealer's price for a stock radio? Just hardwire the fm mod into the factory wires and shove that punk behind the dash. you don't have to access it.

good luck

the aux. input adapters on that site doesnt come up... any know of anywhere else i coudl get one?? as it might come in handy later...

Here is the direct link.... not bad for 80 bucks... http://www.partydown.com/items/item422.htm

Also when you use this how does it not turn on CD changer or will i have to setup an inline switch for changer?? as you dont want to hook up your Aux eq and have it playign your CD in background.....
