Had to go sell an interior for an aircraft today and on the way home I stopped at this place that looks like an old car hop burger joint. There are usually four or so street rods there most of the time. Turns out he supplies the atmosphere for the place and it gives him a place to show off the wares. I got to talking with him about his cars and for the most part he has come a long way in the past couple of years. He was bragging to me about how little he pays for his interiors. $1,500.00 for one car; coupes. When I told him how much I would start at he told me I was TOO expensive. Question, what is the price for a respectable interior for the trucks you are driving or working on? I'm not trying to sell but would like to know what the ranges are out there. I specialize in custom work and mostly in leather.
Would appreciate any feed back. Take care.
Obviously it depends on what size and type interior you're talking about. Over $3K is very common around here for something with any show potential. I've seen people spend double that. You know what leather costs. Have you seen any of his $1500 interiors?
Yes I have and the old addage of you get what you pay for comes true. The truth of the matter is that I know the young man that does the work and when I was in a bind on a job once I sub let part of an interior to him. I haven't used his services since. He keeps busy but so do I. Those that have tried to do their own interiors can appreciate the time it takes to do a good job and tend to all the details. The saying time is money is true and it is easy to lock up hours quickly when there is nothing in a vehicle and you have create all the panels and headliners from scratch. I enjoy the challenge and seeing the end product. Thanks fenders.
