Smile 2000 brakes

Well I did it just in time. Replaced my wifes brakes on her Expetition. They were shot!! I got a great deal on bendix pads on ebay for $20.00. I had a problem getting the big bolts off. They are the ones that bolt the caliper to the a-frame. They used glue of some kind on the threads. I had to use a sledge. Then on the little bolts that holds the caliper on were torqe screws. I used a allen on it. When I regreased it I noticed that it was almost bone dry. I am glad that is out of the way....

Just a reminder, when you install the "big bolts" be sure and use a thread sealant (locktite) and the proper torque amount. I did a "house call" in a Wal-Mart parking lot not too long ago because someone didn't use sealant and the bolt vibrated out and left them stranded. This was seven months after her hubby did her front pads. The heat expansion and cooling contraction is what causes the bolts to loosen.
